Our Partner Westermo awarded a multi-million contract!

Great news from our partner Westermo Network Technologies who has been awarded a multi-million contract for the supply of data communications technology for new trains for the Berlin metro in Germany.

Westermo has won a contract worth more than 5 million EUR with Stadler Rail for data communications technology for Berlin U-Bahn trains.

Stadler Deutschland GmbH has awarded Westermo the contract to supply data communications technology for a new fleet of trains for the Berlin metro in Germany. The entire data networks will support mission-critical systems on-board the two- and four-carriage trains, including the train control and management system (TCMS) as well as systems that ensure passenger comfort and safety.

The contract includes data communication technology for 606 cars with an option on an additional 894 cars. Westermo will provide up to 8,500 of its compact Viper Ethernet switches to manage data networks on the BVG J/JK-series underground rail carriages, which are very energy efficient, produce less noise and provide greater passenger comfort. The Westermo deliveries will commence towards beginning of 2022 and continue over a five-year period for the first phase.

Congratulations and a big well done to our friends at Westermo :)
